Lansing-based MBI to get fed funds for alternative fuel work

Up to $4.3 million in federal funds will help MBI International further its work on alternative fuel technology.
Lansing-based MBI, part of the Michigan State University Foundation, helps prepare bio-based technologies and innovations for commercial use.
The federal funds from the Energy Department will allow MBI to continue work on a technology developed by MSU professor Bruce Dale.
Dale has worked for years to develop a more efficient way to convert grasses, straw and wood chips for use in biofuel and animal feed production.
