Plant Oil Biosynthesis Position

The new DOE Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center (GLBRC) has openings for postdoctoral researchers and technicians to conduct research work on metabolic engineering of fatty acid and triacylglycerol synthesis in plant vegetative tissues. Fatty acids produced by plants are one of the most energy rich and abundant forms of reduced carbon available from nature. The challenge is to produce these biofuels at higher yields.

The positions are available beginning in early 2008 or spring/summer 2008 and are located at Michigan State University’s Department of Plant Biology. Candidates with demonstrated interest in lipids and strong backgrounds in Biochemistry, Genetics, Physiology, Genomics, or Metabolic Engineering are encouraged to apply.

Applications should be submitted as a single rtf, pdf or Word file and include a statement of interest, vitae, and names and contact information for 3 professional references. Selection criteria for the postdoctoral position will include authorship of publications in highly-regarded international journals. Application review will begin January 2008. Please send application materials to: oilseeds@msu.edu.
