Ecosystem & Integrated Assessment Modeling Position

The new DOE Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center (GLBRC) has two openings for graduate or postgraduate researchers that will contribute to the development of a comprehensive framework for the analysis of biomass production in the context of land requirements, alternative land uses, environmental consequences (e.g., water, carbon, and nitrogen balance; soil quality), and competing energy technologies. The positions begin as soon as February 2008 and will be located at the Joint Global Change Research Institute in College Park, MD.

The graduate research position involves ecosystem modeling of biomass crop productivity, biogeochemical cycling, and land use. The applicant is expected to meet all requirements to be accepted as a graduate student of the University of Maryland. The postgraduate research position focuses on integrated assessment modeling of biomass production and use. The Joint Global Change Research Institute is located adjacent to the main campus of the University of Maryland.

Letters of interest should be sent as a single PDF file to Paulette Land and should include a statement of interest, vitae, and contact information for three professional references. For further information contact Dr. César Izaurralde. The Joint Global Change Research Institute is an Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity Employer.
